Not a conventional tour. An invitation to experience Oaxaca from within.

We will share markets, kitchens, workshops and conversations with the people keeping Oaxaca’s traditions alive. Come on your own or with a friend: the group is part of the experience.

    Sunday, 7 February

    Arrive in Oaxaca

    Airport welcome, transfer to our centrally located hotel and a welcome dinner introducing the region’s flavours.

  2. Day 2

    Monday, 8 February

    Markets and cooking

    Local produce, indigenous ingredients and a hands-on journey from maize to tortilla.

  3. Day 3

    Tuesday, 9 February

    Monte Albán and craft

    Zapotec history, alebrijes in San Martín Tilcajete and black pottery in San Bartolo Coyotepec.

  4. Day 4

    Wednesday, 10 February

    Makers and chocolate

    Meet local artisans and discover the traditional preparation of chocolate with Oaxacan cacao.

  5. Day 5

    Thursday, 11 February

    Market and textiles

    A Central Valleys market followed by the looms, natural dyes and symbols of Teotitlán del Valle.

  6. Day 6

    Friday, 12 February

    Mezcal and Hierve el Agua

    Agave landscapes, a traditional distillery and the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua.

  7. Day 7

    Saturday, 13 February

    Cacao and farewell

    A cacao ceremony, time to reflect and a special farewell dinner shared around the table.

  8. Day 8

    Sunday, 14 February

    One last look

    Breakfast, free time and an airport transfer arranged around your departure.

Meet Oaxaca with Blanca

Blanca is Mexican and personally accompanies every group. Her role is not simply to coordinate an itinerary, but to create the setting in which each traveller feels looked after, safe and part of a shared experience.

Before you book, Blanca talks with every interested traveller to explain the journey, understand her expectations and make sure the experience is a good fit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I join if I am travelling on my own?

Yes. The journey is designed for women coming alone or with someone they know. You will meet Blanca and the group before departure.

Does this form reserve my place?

No. It requests a conversation. A place is only reserved after the booking conditions are accepted and the deposit is paid.

Should I buy my flights now?

Please do not buy flights until Women Explore has confirmed the departure in writing and provided arrival guidance.

Is the journey physically demanding?

It includes walking, markets, archaeological sites and some uneven ground. Please discuss any mobility needs with Blanca during your conversation.

Are mezcal and other alcoholic drinks included?

Alcoholic drinks are not generally included. The tasting attached to the distillery visit is part of the listed experience.

Will there be free time?

Yes. The rhythm combines arranged experiences with time to rest, wander or browse for something to take home.
